Porthtowan is a small village on the north Cornish coast, famous for its surfing, the sandy beach, rockpools and wonderful coastal cliff-top walks over the National Trust land.
Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are modern terraced houses in a group of four, and are situated in a superb location right on the beach at Porthtowan. There is private parking in the courtyard in front of the houses. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are fully furnished to a high standard, and are warm and comfortable. Each has a small sheltered south facing garden and patio, with table, chairs and a charcoal barbecue.
In the village there is a post office, local store and deli, ice cream bar, children’s play area and tea rooms. Wet-suits, surf boards and tuition are all available next to the beach. There are 2 bars/restaurants, one of these being the famous Blue Bar which serves great food all day, shows surf and ski videos and has live music at weekends.
The blue flag beach is spacious and safe and is one of the finest surfing beaches in Cornwall. There are numerous rock pools and wonderful caves to explore, making it ideal for families with young children. Lifeguards are on duty throughout the season.
St. Agnes, 3 miles away, has many restaurants, shops and art galleries. Other attractions nearby include the Eden Project, Padstow, the cathedral city of Truro, and St. Ives. The houses make an ideal base for touring Corwall.
